Simple Heart nail art with tutorial

Hey, this is a little later than I'd like to be posting but my boyf is suffering from glandular fever, jaundice and now a horrible rash so I've been looking after him/been at the hospital and doctors so I've finally had a chance to do my nails as he is starting to recover....we hope :)
Anywho Illamasqua Kink was such a pain to remove, it stained my cuticles as I was removing it boo for nasty cuticles! I put this pink Nails Inc on for something simple to cover up my stains but it ended up needing 4 coats!! It was very streaky :( I don't like the colour, it's too barbie pink :P.
As the Vday is round the corner (so it New York!!) I decided I could do a really simple mani before I take this colour off. I saw this nail art in this months Company magazine and it was created by the nail genius The Illustrated nail. Of course the models nails were a lot shorter than mine so I have adapted it to look good on my nails but it looks great on short nails!

1. You only need one base colour and either a red striper or a striping brush and red polish (you could use a nail art pen if you have one, I prefer the clean edges that a striper gives) Hope I'm spelling striper right.... ;)
2. Paint your base colour and let dry fully.
3. Using your striper (or whatever you're using) make a line from the tip in the centre to the edges of your nail, depending on how pointed you want the hearts tip to be (mine are quite sharp) will determine how far up your nail the lines go.
4. Above the two lines, on shorter nails (read normal non talon length) this should be just under the base of your nail, draw an upside down v.
5. Join your v to the two exisiting lines with a curved line on either side. Try to keep the inner side clean, it doesn't matter if the outer edge is a bit wobbly as you'll be covering it up.
6. Neaten the outer edge, making them the same thickness as the bottom lines or colour all the way to the base of your nail. You should now have really cute heart outline nails! Yay :)

I did two versions, the one on my ring finger is just a thicker version of the above. It looks great on short nails as it covers the whole nail rather than 3/4s, it's super cute for vday and it's quick and simple too :).
Sorry about my horrid ridges! Not even 4 coats of polish can tame them :(.
I've started to think of my NY nails.....eeeee

Let me know if you're going to give it a go! I'll pop these onto my tutorials page :)

Graphic Lines nail art

Hi, I feel like I haven't blogged in ages and that's because I, like many others around the world have been making the most of this glorious weather! But I promise I am back now, I have a couple more posts lined up after this so that should tide me over until I change my nails :).

You know how the best designs are the ones you didn't want to create initially? Well that is what happened today. I set myself an ambitious 5 different pattern design but it went completely wrong and then I got a new idea from the wreckage and I love it! I love instagram as there are so great nail artists showcased on there and my absolute favourite is astrowifey (type that into instagram to find her) she does amazing work and I urge you to check her out if you want to see some serious mini artworks! Anyway this mani is inspired by her :)

As usual I freehanded the lines with my nail art pen (you can probably tell on my pinkie!). The pink is one of the unknown color clubs, green is Kiko 345 Jade Green and yellow is Unicorn by Sinful Colors (from the wonderful Katee) I really like this yellow it's nice and soft and only takes two coats to reach opacity :). All three colours took two coats for opacity.
Like I said earlier I really like these designs, they're quite simple and it's something different for me too and I think they look good ;). My favourites are the middle and index fingers.

I should be getting some nail mail tomorrow :D only small but good!

Seeyou all tomorrow!

Spring Retro Nail art with the mysterious Color clubs

Lol! Good title right? :P
It's the only way I can describe what this mani is haha. So after yesterdays disaster nail day, I swiftly removed the Barry M and decided to do some fun nail art. I chose two of my newly acquired unknown Color clubs, a green and a pink (!!). Here are the 6 colours that I got in the "Alter Ego" set.
L-R ?, Revealed, ?, ?, ?, ?

The pink is okay for as it isn't straight pink, it has a purple undertone to it, if that is possible haha, I thought the green went perfectly with it, they looked pretty and spring appropriate. Here they are without the design.

Pretty right? Both colours only took 2 coats each.
Then I used the nail polish brushes to paint one stripe down the middle of each nail, they took forever to dry so I added SH ID to speed it up and then once they had dried I used my Wah nails art pen to draw the zig zag/ diamonds and that was it :)

The good thing about this design is that the zigzags don't have to be perfect, it adds to the fun when they are less perfect ;) I think it looks like a retro pattern off a pair of awful trousers from the 90s :P

Question: Why don't Color Clubs have names on the bottles??

Hope you enjoyed!

Polish swap has arrived :D

Hey, so finally one of my packages has arrived and it was the one I was most excited about :) myself and the lovely Bethany from A plethora of Nails did a big polish swap, I sent her two Butter Londons and she sent me an Opi and Zoya that I wanted and then we decided that we would go out and buy each other a few polishes from our local shops ie Boots, for a polish culture swap ;).
I was so excited when I was told I had a package eeee it was THE package so I ripped it open (quite literally) and three mini bottles rolled out of the tissue paper, they are so cute!! I want to say a massive thank you to Bethany, it has been really nice getting to know you better, I hope we continue to stay in contact :) I really love everything that you sent me :D!

L-R Fruit Smoothie by Confetti, Lets Talk by Sinful colors, Phoebe by Zoya, Disco Ball by Sally Hansen, Trust Fund Baby by Spoiled, Sparkled by Wet N Wild, Battery Park Purple by NYC, Swimsuit Nailed it! By OPI and the three superrrr cute minis an unnamed Bon Bons (?) and HD Nails and This is it by Sinful Colors.

How cool!! I am so in love with Swimsuit, it's so gorgeous and weirdly I nearly bought Lets Talk by Sinful the other day I kept picking it up and then I put it down, great minds and all that ;).
The one that I have on right now is the pink glitter! I can't believe I'm typing this but I was drawn to the pink glitter! I tried it on my nail wheel first and decided to put it over the top of one of my only pinks lol.
This is one easy coat of Rimmel's Style Hunter, it has a strong fine silver shimmer that make it have a pearlised finish.
I think this is one coat of Sparkled, I'm not sure though, this is in the shade as it were.

Two coats with flash

Two coats in sunlight.
My bf really wanted me to wear this one, I was attracted to it too but it was mainly him :P I do like it, Sparkled is a mix of small pink glitter and larger silver glitter, it is very bling as all glitter is but this is so sparkly like its namesake, haha. It is quite gritty, one thick coat of SH ID sorts that out :). One thing I do know is that I can't stop looking at my nails, they're pretttty, so far so good :P. Good choice Bethany!

On a side note I discovered today that Barry M now do Magnetic polish! There were about 8 slots but only two had polish in, one was red with a striped magnet and the one I got was grey with a circular waved pattern, I know another is blue with a star as that is what the woman in the promo is wearing! I'll be sure to check back soon to see what the others are, they cost £4.99 which is steep for Barry M but I guess these types of polishes are two in one and you can switch magnets if you get them all :). I'm quite excited to try it out to be honest I wasn't really feeling magnetic polish when it first came out but I am seeing the fun in it now :P.

Thank you again Bethany :) I hope you're having as much fun with my package and I hope everyone else enjoyed this swap post :)
