Grunge nail art, take two!

Hi!
I had the idea for this nail art one day when I was removing some neon polish, as I had a white layer under the neon and as I removed it you could see both layers and I thought it looked really cool....and then I forgot about it.
I remembered it though a few weeks later and quickly drew it into my new nail art folder/sketchbook thing (I'll show it you when I've got a few more ideas down!) which I got the idea for from @attitudenails on instagram :). I finally did the nail art after my birthday using one of the polishes my bestie got me :) - Rimmel Sun Downer which is a gorgeous red orange, two coats and it was glossy and smooth :O.

I did two coats of sun downer and then a coat of topcoat, then when that dried I did a quick layer of white and then a layer of SpaRituals  Dreamsicle...as you can imagine all those layers took a while to dry but this is the easiest nail art I've done recently so it was quite nice to just sit around and wait for my nails to dry as once they were dry it literally took 5 minutes to achieve the look on both hands haha!
I got a new catbird ring for my birthday :D
Creepy bubbles on my thumb :(

All I did was did a cotton bud (q-tip) into nail polish remover and then I just made like I was removing my polish but in a more precise way and voilà jagged, edgy nail art was born :p.
I chose not to topcoat as I thought it would make it look too, well, glossy :p when this look is about looking undone and grungy :).
I was influenced by my phone case too I think, I mean look at it!! £20 and it's just wearing away....but to be fair I do like how it looks haha

The weird thing is that my favourite blogger Lizzy recently posted a very similar look but she used a different method, great minds think alike eh ;) you can see her wonderful creation here :D

I'm moving back to uni this weekend woohooooo but don't fear I have a couple of posts written and scheduled :O I know I'm actually organised for once in my life :P!

I'd love to know where you get nailspiration from, the weirder the better ;)

Models Own - Luis Lemon swatches

Hi! Here are my swatches of Luis Lemon, anyone understand that name? I was being lazy so only did a quick patchy white coat and I paid the price once I started painting the neon over it, I had to do 5 coats to cover the bold patches!! However over the opaque white bits two coats was perfect so this is no reflection on the polish, simply my idleness. Ha.

Look at it shining in the background! It's so bright, perfect highlighter pen yellow, I recommend it :) it was even sweeter as I didn't have to pay real money, I cashed out my boots points...worth it! I nearly picked up Greenberry from Barry M but I resisted as I thought it was too similar to Essie's Turquoise and Caicos but I no longer think that so I might go pick it up ;). Nothing worse than buyers regret.

I'm planning on doing some summery nail art tonight, might do a tutorial as well if anyone likes them of course :).

Short post again but there's not much to say about a polish that speaks for itself ;). Seeyou soooooon!

Flossgloss - Con Limon bossin' swatches

Hey :) hope everyone's well?

So my Flossgloss order arrived this week, yay! I was so excited...like embarrassingly so...ha! But can you blame me really??
Yeah, I thought not.
PERF, Neon Nacho and Con Limon and stickers yeahhhh. It was love at first sight with all three, so much gorgeous in one place :D. I had to use Con Limon first, just look at it, it's amazing! Ha.

I used 3/4 coats over white to make sure that it was opaque and neon, the formula was a tad streaky but nothing major, it dried nice and quick, it dries kinda shiny too which is cool. I'm going to stop talking now, just look at the photos

                                                                          Put yo guns up

In actual love with my nails right now! Sooooo florescent, it's the perfect mix of green and yellow to make this molten, hawwwt colour. Yeah my nails are boss. Yeah I just said that.

I am currently pimping these nails out which you'll see some time soon ;) so what do you think of flossgloss?

Hattie Stewart inspired nails

I'm back! Hopefully :P I have been super busy and weighed down with uni work; making a website, printing portfolio, doing a boring blog (not this one heheheh) a research review and two photographic projects! Gah so I hope you'll still have me! ;). I have so little time that I literally painted my nails once since my last post!! I still haven't filed my nails since :0 and I still have this nail art on bearing in mind I did it 8 days ago! Wow I have been busy! Yeah next week is my last week of second year :( can't believe it's come round so fast! Okay so many exclamation marks, need to slow down bahahahaha.

Onto the nails...I recently discovered, via Company magazine, an amazing British illustrator Hattie Stewart, you need to check out her website www.hattiestewart.com :) I like to think of some of her work as slightly feminist which is NOT a bad thing!! Her illustrations are cute and creepy and just cooooool. So I took a look at most of her work and chose some bits to copy onto my nails but in neon, I'm on a total neon kick at the moment! Hah.
They took a couple of hours to do, I spread them out over two nights as I had other stuff to do, so I was rocking one hand done and the other was just white :P.

You can see the neon in the second photo, the middle and ring fingers are based off a drawing she posted on instagram @hattiestewart :) it's an orange hahahaa. I was happy to find that I could still use my left hand to draw/paint reasonably well.
The orange - China Glaze Orange Knockout
The Green - China Glaze I'm with the Lifeguard (Thanks Lizzy! Still loving it as much as when you sent it me <3)
The Pink - Sparitual Dreamsicle

I got two more China Glaze's the other day from Sally Salon Services when I went home to shoot last weekend, Flying Dragon and Turned up Turquoise hehehehhehehe also I am trying very hard to resist the new Chanel's and Dior's Birds of Paradise! Argh

You know the other day I said I wanted some flossgloss? Weeeeeell I might have caved and bought 3 despite the $25 shipping! They're worth it (I hope) I can't wait for them to get here, I'll leave you in suspense as to which colours I got...

90s Grunge...neon gradient

Hey guys!
Hope you've all had a good week, mine's been stresssssful! Anywho this mani came about as I was feeling lazy and inspired by Spring's beauty trend of grunge, lazy and inspired?! I wanted to use my new Sparituals neon as it's so lovely for spring/summer/anytime. I used 3 coats of Barry M Nude and then I did one thin coat of Dreamsicle to just above half way, then whilst it was still wet I dipped a small brush into Nude and used it to both smudge the polish and make it paler. Then I went over dreamsicle up to where the smudge begins. Simple!
I got bored one night and drew on my middle finger and it didn't come off ha. Then I got the nail glue out and started sticking foil to my tips cos I thought it would look coooool but the glue just blobbed everywhere so it didn't work out and now it looks stupid but you can't really see it in the picture but I just thought I'd let you know ;).

Wearin' my new dress from Century 21 (best shoppppp) I like these nails but I'm ready to change them hahaha! Don't know what to do yet but I'll think of something I'm sure....I hope the nail glue comes off easily though, don't know why I used it.....

I'm suffering for the first time in years with really dry hands and I've peeled all my fingers, it didn't hurt until I reached the creases....I know it's bad but I couldn't stop myself :( now my fingers look gross and are kind of sore. Sorry for that, a bit creepy but relevant yes?

China Glaze Orange Knockout Swatches

Hey, today's the last of my scheduled posts, how'd you all like Lizzy's post? So cute :). Today I have my second Neon polish that I got the other day. I tried out the ridge filler too and oooh I was so surprised when it dried matte! It did fill out my ridges really well actually! I used two coats to make sure they were banished ha ;). I used one coat of Barry M Matte White (Matte matte matte ;)) to ensure that the colour popped, not that it needed it :P.
I ended up using three coats of Orange Knockout and it nearly knocked me out with how insanely bright!!

Hehehehe surprise again! This is me and my sister's hand, look at the skin tone difference :P she's wearing China Glaze High Voltage Pink which doesn't look neon but it is! She didn't put white underneath which is probably why it looks kind of dull and the fact that the orange is literally INSANE!!
Yeah I am in love with this!! It's my holiday mani, I intend to wear this for the whole week! I'm also hoping that it will bring sunshine and banish the rain, hahahah. Look how smooth my nails are :D it's making me happy. Oh yeah I put a topcoat on as my sis was complaining that hers had chipped off within two hours as she didn't put a topcoat on. I prefer it slightly when it's matte but I need it to last so you know.
If you have this colour then you know that this polish is a million times brighter and waaaaay more orange, it's so obnoxious that it has to be cool ;). I love the way it looks with my rings :P.

See you when I get back! With a fresh mani :) Hope everyone's had a great week.
